Mass Heartache 2017
My heart breaks every time there is a mass shooting. Finding a way to pay tribute to the victims who lost their lives in senseless violence helps me to process my grief. Small bits of altered journal pages pierced by red thread depict hate speech, conflict and emotional wounds that tear us apart. Mass shooting victims from the following tragedies are honored: Orlando, FL; San Bernadino, CA; Roseburg, OR; Charleston, SC; Washington D.C.; Newtown, CT; Oak Creek, WI; Aurora, CO; Tucson, AZ; Fort Hood, TX; Binghampton, NY; Blacksburg, VA. Robert McGartland, Chaminade class of 2010 who was shot and killed in 2012 is honored on the back of the quilt.
Mass Heartache - Detail
Thank you for sharing this with us all. This is a really moving piece. The first time I read the title, I misread it as "Mass Heart Attack". Thinking about your piece with the wrong title still works well.
