Serving Platter 2020
This piece is a recent piece made where I am working more with slabs and hand-building than throwing on the wheel. I enjoy simple patterns in my decoration, not letting the design get too fussy or specific. I am interested in letting the voice of the clay resonate. I am letting the process of building show and allowing some of the intrinsic characteristics of the clay reveal itself. I have always been interested in keeping my work functional.
I hope that my work can be nice to look at and appreciate as sculpture, but I also like that it serves food, and by doing so, is used in sharing and mealtime.
